Sooo, about a month and a half ago I posted a big poll on the Telltale Games Forums and asked my fans to vote on it. The purpose was to re-orient ourselves and to filter out the projects in which we should invest the most.

Also, the results were influenced by various personal conversations that I had with some fans. We took your advices, your suggestions and we’re bringing to you the list for upcoming projects in 2012.

Let’s dig in!

Heya!

Long time no updates. I kept busy with the Doctor Who tribute… and guess what? For the first time, I made my own sound effects! :D

It’s not that I couldn’t find similar ones on the net… but I needed specific ones and I ended up improvising. I haven’t implemented them yet, but I’m sure they’ll work fine. I might even toss them up for free for anyone who needs them.

It’s funny that people started jumping from e-mails to phone calls o.o I think I got about 2 or 3 phone calls from friends: “Hey, did you finish the movie yet?”

As of this moment I have exactly 5 effects and 2 shots to finish. So that’s:

- 4 simple effects (I know I said 3 last time… forgot about these)

- 1 complicated effect

- Intro-thingie

- Ending-thingie + credits

I know, I know… it doesn’t seem that interesting when you TALK about it instead of showing it.  How about I throw in a scene from the Lord of the Rings Parody -- Making of… ?

I WAS keeping this as a surprise, but I figured you should see it just to get a glimpse of what you should expect from the Making Of.

Also, Cristi, dear friend, your majesty, apologies in advance for showing them this. They’re my friends too! ^^

TIP: Turn annotations ON for subtitles

…and some GREAT news!

Good news: I met today with Frodo and Sam (Dan and …uh…Sam), and it was really cool because we haven’t seen each other for such a long time. We talked about all sorts of stuff and they’re excited for the Doctor Who Tribute too! :D They got me a nice bunch of gifts for Christmas… but I’ll tell you about those when I take some cool pictures. You need to see this ^^

GREAT news: I finally managed to get the Vortex thing working. It looks acceptable, so it will have to do. I made a quick edit of it to see how it fits in the overall movie and it’s quite cool. At least we have a Tardis there… so that’s something.

Maybe I should just write: “The viewer is strongly advised to use his imagination during the viewing of this movie”, just to be sure. What do you think?

I was looking over the footage recorded in the last 2 years, for LOTR Parody.

My God, was I fat o.O

It’s so weird acknowledging the entire process one goes through, physically and emotionally, when making such a huge movie. I hope I’m not rambling now, but I’m just fascinated by what we’ve made.

It was never about the final product itself… it was about the friends we made and the journey we took. It was an incredible journey and we made some incredible friends along the way. It may not seem so big from the outside of it all… I guess it’s like climbing a mountain.

When you start climbing, you know you have to reach the top. When you reach the top you take a look around, take some pictures, drink some water and then you start planning your way down. When you safely return to the ground, you’re far too tired to do anything else so you go home, to sleep.

The next day, you open your window, you look at the mountain and you realize: S**t, I was on top of that thing. I was there. I did it.

Then your neighbor says “Hi!”… you show him the mountain and he goes like: “Oh yeah, you were there, cool. Hey, did you catch last night’s game?”

You can only smile and start a normal, boring, game-related conversation. :)

I don’t know why I wrote the title like that… but it’s the content that matters.

I’m almost done with the LOTR Parody Making Of, which will basically mean a huge door being closed on one of the best chapters of my life. I almost don’t want to end it :)

The editing is going swell… I don’t have any effects to worry about… So yeah… just pasting together some of the behind-the-scenes stuff we have. The only thing that frustrates me is the fact that Sony Vegas keeps freezing on me. This poor ol’ Windows really cracked under the immensity of the LOTR Parody. Just the sheer size of the files, considering it’s an amateur project, is enough to break any editing program (250 Gb of materials).

Oh, by the way, the contract I mentioned… it is not between me and a celebrity. Hehe. Maybe soon-to-become-celebrity.

Besides… Spielberg and I have such a different approach, I’m not sure we’d collaborate well. Peter Jackson on the other hand is as crazy as I am, so it would be fun to try out a collaboration one day! ^^ I’m really curious if he did stumble across our parody or not.

Either way, the Making of is near completion. If there is anything you’d like to see in it, ask for it NOW. I’m deleting everything after I launch it. :)

Finally, Cosmin sat down and we recorded his after-thoughts regarding the Lord of the Rings Parody.

Now I can finally wrap this up as well. Hopefully I’ll be able to launch many things for Christmas, but don’t get too upset if I’ll be late with some of them :) I’m doing my best here!

In other news, thanks for your votes! 2012 might be a special year for all of us as we’re preparing our greatest stuff yet!

Yup, that’s what I’ve been doing…cleaning up and preparing the soundtracks for you guys.

First things first…

Composed in 2006-2007, the First Soundtrack featured main characters’ themes and various locations’ themes. It was simple, yet pretty ok for an old Yamaha keyboard (I forgot the number-id… but I did find a copy for sale in an antique-shop later, true story).

01. Intro | 02. Dildo Taters from the Province | 03. Made in China

04. Fredo and Sam | 05. Crazy Pony Club | 06. They are Fiddle-Faddles aka Nazbatii

07. Sarmaleman | 08. If you’re not a pacifist, you die | 09. The Escape

10. Weatherbottom | 11. Nazbatiis are coming! | 12. King Elcube’s Secret Council

13. Nem tudom | 14. Ghindalf’s Death | 15. Galatasarai

16. Will you look into The Jar | 17. Little boat-thingies | 18. The Gang breaks up

19. Song of a Snoppit

As for the new soundtrack, finished in 2011, it features re-composed themes and, one might say, mini-studies of themes. By that, I mean, I played around with various moods and instruments while having the same notes. Also, new keyboard, yay!

On this soundtrack, I am joined by the brilliant Albo Abourt who was kind enough to help me out. Also, a bit “Thank You!” to Ana Niculcea, who lent me her voice once more.

…and I just realized I totally forgot to add her name in the AMMDI 2 credits.

Crap. I WON’T re-render that thing again!! Anyway…

It’s kind of funny, for me, to listen to these and hearing how much I evolved as a musician. I’m far from professional, but I like how it sounds ^^

01. Where were we | 02. Fredo and Sam Theme | 03. Aragaz, Legoulash and Ghemli

04. Sarmaleman VS The World | 05. That’s a lie | 06. Making a salad

07. How to run after a dead orc | 08. Ghindalf Returns and Tells a Tale

09. A walk and a talk | 10. Not THEM again!! (aka Nazbatii 2)

11. King Modem, Son of your bloody father | 12. Eating is a bad habit

13. Moto-Ghindalf and the King | 14. Flashbacks (feat. Prichindell and Dildo Themes)

15. Sarmaleman gets an army | 16. Meanwhile | 17. Fafamir is being logical again

18. King Modem is not amused | 19. With Cheese! | 20. Come back (feat. Albo Abourt)

21. Sam’s speech | 22. Gaga’s plan | 23. That’s one way to start a sequel (feat. Albo Abourt)

24. The Fall of Sarmaleman – Literally | 25. One for Another | 26. Yourself

27. Friends | 28. Hoping for better times

BIG ARCHIVE with BOTH soundtracks! (as requested) – 123 Mb Megaupload

One thing I have to add… the drum tracks are from www.videocopilot.net …and track #26 features a re-made version of “The Bearer of The Ring”, which can be heard in the Lord of the Rings cartoons.

Feel free to download them, listen to them… and enjoy them! ^^

…now back to my Doctor Who Tribute. Mihai’s coat looks SO brilliant!!

Hey guys,

First of all, many many many thanks for voting on the polls. This really helps me evaluate things and adapt on the go.

I’ve spoken with Cosmin (Sarmaleman) and we might just finish with the last interview on Monday. Then it’s a big big quick video editing and voila! “Making of” for you.

I just received some files from Majus today. Don’t get too excited, these are just the last recordings for Ask a Monkeyologist, Season 2. We’re not planning anything for Halloween this year, nor for Christmas. Sorry about that… we’re just extremely busy. Would you believe we haven’t talked in about 5 months??

The Ask a Monkeyologist episodes are quite clear now… and here’s a quick tip on all of them, in order:

Episode 7 : Dumpling321 Unleashed (feat. David Larson)

Episode 8 : A New Threat? (Special Guest Star #1… new person)

Episode 9 : The Threat must be stopped! (Same Guest Star)

Episode 10 : Guidelines to staying alive (Mihai‘s first on-camera role in AaM)

Episode 11 : You’re kidding, right? …right?? (a special episode, response to a dare, which might make me lose half of my fanbase ^.^ … 3 new  Guest Stars!)

Episode 12 : Season Finale (Special Guest Star #2… Not incredibly epic stuff… but we’ll be holding auditions for a certain part!)

That being said, I’m still waiting for the last files to be sent by Special Guest Star #1. It’s not as easy as it sounds and I’m VERY grateful to this person for taking the time to do this.

Before everybody jumps out of their seats, I want to put some rumors to rest… the Guest Star is not from Telltale Games or LucasArts. :) You’ll like her/him, I assure you.

Putting that aside, just to give you a short glimpse of my current projects… I’m currently collaborating with 30+ people on 9 separate projects at the same time. Expect some neat stuff soon, aiming at Christmas. Pray for me that I get to finish all these (or at least show something finished) by the end of the year.

Okay, now, focusing on projects #1 and #2 …the Making of… and the Doctor Who Tribute :) Thanks for being loyal, friends!

My friend, Fifi (Corina Chirita) who played Galatasarai in our Lord of the Rings Parody, will come by tomorrow for one last interview related to the movie.

After her, I’ll ask Sarmaleman (Cosmin) to close the interview-series by sharing his thoughts… and that’s it! We should have that “making of” ready. :)

People asked for bloopers in the Making Of, so expect those. Again, if you do have questions you would like me to respond in the feature, now is the time to ask.

Well, we’re closing in on the release of the LOTR Parody Making Of. I just interviewed another member of the cast and it’s been awesome!

Just a few more to go.

Also, a good friend-director of mine, who asked me a couple of years back to play in one of his mini-parodies, told me that he’s releasing the clip to the public. The clip was played at various festivals and it got applause and all that… then again, everything you play on a big screen tends to get applause.

Well, here’s an earlier version of me… Ah, did I mention that my co-actor is a dude who just signed up for the SciFi Series? Hehehe, let me know what you think!

THE BENEVOLENT

(self portrait)

Oh and the director-friend is none other than GHINDALF (Alex Lungu) from the LOTR Parody! You might recognize him in the clip as well!

It’s a small world, isn’t it?
