Mihai’s Storybook #5 – The Earthquake

Greetings again on this beautiful Friday! My name is Mihai and I’ve got another story for you. May it inspire and/or relax you. 🙂

The Earthquake

In a faraway village, there lived an old man living with his nephew.

One day, when they were serving lunch, the two sat at the kitchen table, getting ready to eat. Suddenly, the earth began to move beneath their feet. An earthquake started to move the house from side to side. The boy started to panic and got under the table as the old man continued to eat. “In vain you hide under the table, lad,” said the grandfather, “The roof would crush you either way.”

The boy jumped out from under the table and hid in a wooden closet. As the elder man finished eating his meal, he wiped the crumbs from his mouth and told his nephew “In vain you hide in the closet, lad. It could fall on its doors and you would be blocked inside.”

The boy bolted out and, as a final sign of desperation, grabbed the pillar of the house, hoping that this sturdy wooden trunk would protect him from the earthquake.

With a calm and warm voice, the smiling old man said “Your business is your own, lad. I’m leaving the house.” And then he proceeded to walk towards the door.
